Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that Ismatulla Irgashev, special representative of Uzbekistan’s president for Afghanistan, and Jonathan Henick, the US ambassador to the country, have held talks regarding Afghanistan.

During this meeting, both sides emphasized their shared interest in maintaining regular discussions on resolving Afghanistan’s issues and the importance of supporting collective international efforts to improve the situation in the country.

“The fact that Uzbekistan’s representative has discussed Afghanistan with the US ambassador is very effective. The more strong lobbyists we have—such as Uzbekistan and China, which have positive perspectives—the more beneficial it will be for Afghanistan,” said Jannat Fahim Chakari, a political analyst.

“These discussions can play a positive role in attracting assistance from regional and global countries to Afghanistan and can also help establish good political and economic relations with Afghanistan,” said Aziz Maarej, a former diplomat.

Previously, Uzbek media reported that Tashkent had handed over seven Black Hawk helicopters to the United States, which had been transferred to Uzbekistan after the fall of Afghanistan’s previous government—an action that was met with criticism from the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Emirate.
