with an aim to attract youth to folk art,a three-day painting exhibition “Autumn Art Exhibit” begins on Friday at the Arts Emporium Abdullah Bridge here.

The three-day painting exhibition is organized by a famous national artist, Deepa Soni of the Udhampur district. During the exhibition, different paintings, including fusion, three-dimensional, watercolours, and others, were displayed on the first day of the event.

Hundreds of people attended and participated in the inaugural day of the event.

DeepuSoni, one of the event’s organizers, said on the sidelines that the young generation in Kashmir Valley is fascinated by dimensional art, while folk art is largely ignored. In this three-day exhibition, we are trying different ways of clubbing folk art.

Any young person who wants to continue their education in the field of art should be encouraged because it is a creative one. “Parents should also allow their children to pursue the arts field, as they should pave the way for the young people to pursue what they are passionate about instead of wasting time on any other degree,” she said.

She said the exhibition will continue for three days so people can sit and learn from each other, and if the response is good, more exhibitions will be organized in the future as well.

The exhibition received a positive response from both people and artists on the first day, she said, adding that their goal is to organize such events to attract the valley’s younger generation.

Dr. Shahid Choudhary, VC KVIB Dr Hina Bhat, DIG Sujit Kumar, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic City, and several other officers were present on the occasion.
