Two explosive-laden vehicles with suicide bombers rammed into the wall of a cantonment in Bannu, Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Tuesday evening, where more than 8,000 people reside, killing 12 and leaving several others injured, including children.
Doctors at a nearby hospital confirmed the deaths of 12 people, while 30 others were injured. The incident took place right after the ‘iftar’ (breaking the fast) during the month of Ramadan.
Following the breach, several terrorists entered the cantonment area, but army personnel managed to kill at least six of them.
The blast reportedly caused the roof of a nearby mosque to collapse while a number of people were inside.
According to reports, clearance of the site will be conducted after the army eliminates all the terrorists in the area.
Before this, on February 28, several people lost their lives and dozens were injured in a suspected suicide blast during Friday prayers that ripped through Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akhora Khattak area near Nowshehra city of Pakistan’s KP province.
As per initial details, the suicide bomber was present in the main hall of the mosque during Friday prayers and exploded himself as the prayers were concluding.
