Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the Political Deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, considers water management and the construction of dams crucial for the country.

Stanekzai stated that to prevent the country from facing drought, existing water resources must be managed, and the Ministry of Energy and Water should prioritize the construction of dams.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said: “You can see that the water level in Afghanistan is decreasing day by day, and the country is facing water shortages. If we do not manage and control our water resources and allow them to flow into other countries, this will harm us. A day will come when the entire country will lack drinking water.”

How effective can water management and dam construction be in addressing water shortages?

Mohammad Asif Stanekzai, an economic expert, said: “Such projects can strengthen the national economy, create job opportunities, and preserve the value of the Afghan currency.”

Sadiq Shinwari, a political analyst, said: “Afghanistan’s water resources must be properly managed because the country urgently needs water.”

In a recent statement, a member of Iran’s Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Policy and National Security claimed that the Islamic Emirate does not adhere to water diplomacy and agreements. He also emphasized: “Water rights are to be claimed, not granted.”
