At least seven people were shot dead after unidentified gunmen intercepted a passenger bus on National Highway (NA-70) in the Radkan area of Barkhan district, Balochistan, late Tuesday night.

Deputy Commissioner Barkhan, Waqar Khursheed, said the attack took place between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

“Unidentified men opened fire on a passenger bus traveling from Quetta to Lahore, forcing it to stop.

“After stopping the bus, the armed men boarded the vehicle, identified seven passengers, forced them to disembark, and shot them dead,” Khursheed said.

He added that initial investigations suggest all those killed were residents of Punjab.

Following the attack, an emergency was declared at Rakhni Hospital, where the bodies were transported.

Meanwhile, Levies forces in Rakhni blocked all traffic at Chhapar, preventing vehicles from entering or leaving the area as security forces launched a search operation.

Authorities have not yet provided further details, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
