Members of the Baloch community held a protest outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on Tuesday, denouncing Pakistan’s ongoing crackdown on the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
The demonstration highlighted what organisers described as “enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, and extrajudicial killings” carried out by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan.
Protesters held placards and chanted slogans demanding the immediate release of detained BYC leaders and activists, including Dr Mahrang Baloch, Beebow Baloch, Gullzadi Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah Ji, and Bebarg Baloch.
Members of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) also joined the protest in a show of solidarity.
Organisers urged the international community to take notice of the situation in Balochistan and to press the Pakistani government to end what they called “a campaign of political repression.”
Representatives from Amnesty International also attended the protest and expressed support for the demonstrators’ demands. They said the organisation would raise the issue with relevant international forums and human rights bodies.
