A number of Shia scholars and elders met with Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the political deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office, to discuss various topics, including the organization and security of Ashura ceremonies.

In this meeting, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir pledged that security would be provided for the Ashura ceremonies and stated that security agencies have taken action.

Hamdullah Fetrat, the deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews that in this meeting, Shia scholars and elders shared their views regarding the organization of the Ashura ceremonies with the Deputy Prime Minister.

The deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate added: “In this meeting, the elders praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate in ensuring security and assured their full cooperation in maintaining the security and order of the Ashura ceremonies.”

“From the first day of Muharram, the forces of the Islamic Emirate came and were stationed at our mosque. Intelligence and police forces have come, and we have coordination,” said Mohammad Arif, a resident of Kabul.

Meanwhile, some Takyeh Khana (place of mourning) officials and religious scholars believe that for better organization of the Ashura ceremonies, there must be proper coordination between the people and the security agencies.

“People should have trust in the Islamic Emirate government, and the government and security forces should have trust in the people. Without trust and belief, security cannot be established,”  Nazer Hussain, a religious scholar, told TOLOnews.

Today marks the fourth day of the month of Muharram, and the days of Muharram are annually commemorated by Shia citizens with special ceremonies in remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the great Prophet of Islam.
