Four people lost their lives, and several others were injured in a tragic road accident in Balochistan’s Sibi district. According to reports, a passenger wagon traveling from Quetta to Jacobabad met with an accident near Mathari, Sibi, resulting in the immediate death of four individuals and leaving multiple others injured. The injured have been shifted to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Frequent road accidents in Balochistan are a longstanding issue, largely due to the poor condition of the province’s roads. Many routes in Balochistan remain narrow, damaged, and unmaintained, lacking essential safety measures like guardrails, adequate signage, and emergency response facilities. Despite the high accident rate and mounting casualties, there has been little progress on infrastructure improvements in the region.

Critics argue that Balochistan’s road network reflects a broader pattern of government neglect. Successive governments have failed to prioritize infrastructure in Balochistan, even as roads in other parts of Pakistan receive regular maintenance and upgrades. The region, rich in natural resources yet underdeveloped, has long struggled with inadequate healthcare, educational facilities, and public safety measures, which residents claim exacerbate their vulnerability to such tragedies.

With recurring fatalities and injuries from road accidents, the people of Balochistan are increasingly calling for the federal and provincial governments to address the severe infrastructural gaps and ensure safer travel conditions across the region.
