The Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) and the Quetta Press Club have strongly condemned the police raid on the press club, calling it an attack on freedom of expression. The raid reportedly occurred when police entered the premises and arrested teachers from Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBK).
In a joint statement, the BUJ and the Quetta Press Club demanded the immediate suspension of the officers involved, a thorough investigation into the incident, and strict action against those responsible.
Journalists have described the move as unprecedented and unacceptable, stating that such actions set a dangerous precedent for press freedom in Balochistan. They accused both the district administration and the police of attempting to suppress independent journalism.
The journalist community has warned that if no action is taken against those responsible, they will launch a strong protest, holding the provincial government and the police fully accountable for any consequences.
