History
Keeping in view the importance of Desert Warfare training, it was decided by Genera! Headquarters in 1980 to establish Army Desert Warfare School at Chhor in two stages. In the first stage, the school started functioning as Desert Warfare Wing of Divisional Battle School on 14 February 1980. In the second stage the institution was upgraded to Army Desert Warfare School on 13 September 1987.
Army Desert Warfare School Location
The School is located at Chhor 165 km from Hyderabad, a major city of Sindh Province, which is 185 km from Karachi connected with the country by road/rail and air. Chhor is approachable by road/rail from Hyderabad via Mirpur Khas – Umerkot road/rail track. Umerkot is 20 km from Chhor and is the last major town in the area with an international telephone/telegraph facility and other amenities of daily life. The climatic conditions in the area vary from hot to cold.
