The National Disaster Management Authority has signed an agreement worth $698,547 with the Norwegian Committee.
According to the agreement, the allocated funds will be used to provide winter assistance to vulnerable families in the provinces of Parwan and Badakhshan.
Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, deputy spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority, stated: “Based on this agreement, $698,547 will be used to provide cash assistance and distribute blankets to 1,630 families in the mentioned provinces.”
The National Disaster Management Authority told TOLOnews that in the past week alone, it has signed nine cooperation agreements with national and international organizations in the fields of disaster management, risk reduction, and assistance to affected individuals, with a total value of $6,481,382.
Abdul Zahoor Madaber, an economic affairs expert, highlighted the economic significance of such agreements, saying: “Money and liquidity can be considered essential elements for a country’s development. Therefore, signing agreements that bring funds and capital into the country can benefit Afghanistan’s economy.”
Qutbuddin Yaqubi, another expert in economic affairs, said: “In emergency situations, there is a need for medicine, food supplies, or hygiene items. These agreements and collaborations play a critically effective and fundamental role in addressing such circumstances.”
In recent years, floods and earthquakes have caused significant damage to citizens in various provinces of the country.
