Director Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Subash C Chhibber on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for selecting and preparing the district-level contingents from various Kashmir-based districts for the upcoming National Youth Festival 2023 scheduled to be held at Hubballi-Dharwad Karnataka from January 12 to 16.
The selection and preparation process for the J&K contingent will take place at Jammu from January 1 to January 5, before the contingent is flagged off for the National Youth Festival on a concluding day.
Director YSS said that various committees have been framed for the smooth and successful conduct of the preparatory camp of the J&K contingent.
Earlier, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports (K), Bashir Ahmed had also taken stock of the arrangements through a meeting, which was attended by the District Youth Services and Sports Officers of the Kashmir division.
Director YSS said that events like National Youth Festival provide an opportunity for the youth to showcase their cultural and other allied skills, besides providing the opportunity to exchange culture, learn new languages, know about the cultural ethos of other States, UT’s and make new friends.
Pertinently under the competitive category, the youth would be participating in two genres i.e. Folk Song and Folk Dance while there would be seven non-competitive categories for the students to take part in.
The meeting was attended by JD (Kashmir) YSS, I/c Activity Section, I/c Media and Publicity Wing and other senior officials of the Directorate of YSS (Kashmir)
