The 76th Independence Day was today celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
While the programme aimed to invoke a feeling of patriotism among the citizens and promote awareness about the Indian National Flag, was a brain child of the Prime Minister Modi led government, however, the massive participation of the people to implement this programme in Kashmir mainly goes to the people themselves who came forward to display their patriotic fervor.
A campaign called “Har Ghar Tiranga” is being run by Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to get people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it. It is to celebrate India’s 75th year of independence. Indians have always had a more official relationship with the flag than a personal one. Bringing the flag home as a nation in the 75th year of independence. It symbolises both the dedication to create a better country and the act of personal connection to the flag. Recently, Har Ghar Tiranga rally flags off over Jammu and Kashmir’s beautiful Dal lake.
Under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, citizens were encouraged to hoist the National Flag of India (Tiranga) atop their homes to celebrate the 75 glorious years of a progressive Independent India. For this campaign also, people in Kashmir especially in rural areas did quite an unprecedented job.
Though the people of Kashmir valley have always been more patriotic then their fellow countrymen but the turmoil and the terrorism in this part of the country since 1990s had created a fear psychosis among the masses.
J&K as a whole had shown these patriotic credentials in 1947 when the people of Jammu and Kashmir acceded with the Indian dominion. As the country celebrated its 75th Independence day today, people of Kashmir were also over joyous to celebrate their 1947 decision that made it an integral part of this great nation.
