Finally movie lovers in Kashmir will be able to see the latest Bollywood and Hollywood movies on the big screen as the first multiplex in Srinagar is set to open on 20th of September.

The 520-seat INOX-designed multiplex will be the first in Kashmir, there will be a special screening of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha at the new INOX multiplex.

The first show will be on September 30 when the Hrithik Roshan-starred movie Vikram Vedha will be screened in the multiplex.

Cinema lovers will be able to watch movies on a silver screen with 2K picture resolution and one of the three auditoriums has a 3D projector installed and Dolby 7.1 Atmos for audio technology.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha will inaugurate the multiplex designed by INOX on 20th September at 11:00 am.

This multiplex will bring back movie watching in cinema halls after a gap of 3 decades.

Vijay Dhar, a prominent Kashmiri Pandit businessman and the brainchild behind the project, had started construction work on the multiplex at Shivpora near Badami Bagh Cantonment, around two years ago.

Dhar also runs Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar, a prominent school in the city.

The multiplex has many food courts and other entertaining facilities which will attract the children as well.

“To maintain Kashmir’s art and design, a kashmiri wood “khatambandh” is used in the lobbies which gives it a kashmiri culture look.”

The Jammu & Kashmir Film Development Council (JKFDC) has taken several initiatives to promote the UT as a leading destination for shooting and production of all feature and non-feature content films, digital content and television shows.

The list of deliverables for producers of incentivized films would include the incorporation of the logo of the Jammu & Kashmir Film Development Council, proof of which shall be enclosed along with the documents for subsidy.

According to the Film Policy, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir is identifying catalogues and developing promising potential shooting locations that have aesthetic and cinematic appeal.
