Eight Pakistani security personnel were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on their vehicle in the Kalat district of Balochistan on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Kalat, Bilal Shabbir, confirmed that the explosion occurred when an explosive device, planted by unknown assailants, detonated as the security forces’ vehicle passed by.

“The bomb was placed by the roadside and went off as the security personnel were traveling through the area, injuring eight personnel,” Shabbir said.

Following the explosion, Levies forces and other security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. The injured were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
