The Kabul Municipality has reported the collection of over 3.35 billion Afghanis in revenue over the past five months.

Officials of the department, in their five-month performance report, stated that during this period, 165 development projects have been planned across 22 districts of Kabul City, of which 82 projects are currently underway, 18 have been completed, and the remaining are in the procurement phase.

Mohammad Qasim Afghan, Director of Planning, Policy, Monitoring, and Evaluation at Kabul Municipality, said: “Many projects related to road maintenance and preservation have been initiated, and most of them have already reached the implementation stage.”

The cultural advisor of Kabul Municipality stated that in the construction sector, more than 417 building plans have been approved and distributed to the public, while 1,200 illegal construction projects have been halted.

According to Nematullah Barakzai, in an effort to reduce air pollution, the municipality has inspected over 2,300 high-rise buildings, bathhouses, and other smoke-emitting facilities, resulting in the closure of 767 units.

Barakzai further explained: “A thorough inspection has been conducted, and approximately 767 businesses have been shut down due to violations. These closures are temporary.”

He also announced that construction of three vehicle overpasses, aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the areas of Manar-e-Nijat, Charrahi Baraki, and in front of the Kabul Governor’s Office, will commence next month.

Meanwhile, traffic congestion and urban disorder continue to be significant challenges for Kabul residents.
