In Jammu and Kashmir, in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the Chief Electoral Officer today organised one day workshop for Political parties at the office of the CEO, Nirvachan Bhawan Jammu. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the program was attended by around 40 Representatives of major political parties of the UT. The participants included members of national and state level political parties including BJP, Panthers Party, Apni Party among others. The training covered all important aspects of the Election process including Nomination, Qualification and disqualification of candidature, EVM preparedness, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Model Code of Conduct and Media certification and monitoring committees. The political representatives were also apprised of Poll day related SOPs to be observed by polling parties as well as the contesting candidates. Chief Electoral Officer, P. K Pole stressed upon the central role of political parties in a vibrant Democracy like India. He apprised the representatives on various election related aspects highlighting the need for a closer liaison between political parties and administrative machinery in ensuring a free, fair and civil discourse both during and after election processes and also emphasized upon the importance of maintaining good practices and transparency to ensure peaceful and fair elections. National Level Master trainers Chand Kishore Sharma and Riaz Ahmed Butt imparted training on several topics including EVM preparedness, issues pertaining to Model Code of Conduct, Election Expenditure monitoring, Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) and Social Media.
