Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb, the Islamic Emirate’s chargé d’affaires in Pakistan, stressed resolving challenges between the two countries during a meeting with Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, the leader of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Party (MWM).
In this meeting, discussions were held on the relations between the two countries, the challenges related to the closure of border area crossings for bilateral trade, the situation in the Kurram region, and opportunities for rebuilding bilateral relations.
The Islamic Emirate’s embassy in Pakistan said in a statement: “During the meeting, bilateral relations, trade challenges due to the closure of crossing points, the situation in Kurram, opportunities for strengthening ties, and other key issues of mutual interest were discussed.”
At the same time, a number of political analysts consider such meetings important for strengthening the relations between the Islamic Emirate and Pakistan.
“The caretaker government of Afghanistan is striving to improve relations with regional countries, international organizations, and neighboring countries, but the relations and interactions between the delegations of the two countries will not improve until the Pakistani government acts sincerely towards Afghanistan and abandons its double policy,” Najib Rahman Shamal, a political analyst, told TOLOnews.
“Talks yield results when the national interests of both sides are the subject of discussion. The current Afghan government has pledged an economy-focused approach, non-interference in the affairs of other countries, and security. Will Pakistan adopt the same policy towards us or not?” said Mohammad Zalmai Afghan Yar, another political analyst.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, visited Kabul on Monday this week and held discussions with various officials of the Islamic Emirate regarding resolving challenges between Kabul and Islamabad.
