Pakistan’s Intelligence agency ISI is using students to create tension in Bangladesh as it wants to establish an anti-India government by dislodging Sheikh Hasina, top Intelligence sources have told CNN-News18. Sources also said ISI sleeper cells are working full time in Dhaka to dislodge Hasina.

“ISI is using Jamat and their student unit Chhatra Shivir to aggravate the crisis in Dhaka. Jamat is considered to be very close to Pakistan and secret funding was given to them from time to time. They regular get briefings and instructions from the Pakistan mission in Dhaka,” they said.

The sources added: “Recently, an unusual move was seen which is normally not done by Foreign Missions. The Pakistan embassy asked students to take shelter, if needed, in the mission. Diplomatic missions are never seen doing this.”

They said ISI feels the Awami League government is backed by India and must be removed to “create ripples in this part of the neighbourhood”.

“Through this, they get multiple border entry points into India for all kinds of activities. They want the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to come to power and support Pakistan.”

The sources said ISI was following the modus operandi that it used in Kashmir. “They provoke unrest, killing and terrorism so that the world attention comes to them. Once that is achieved, they want a neutral government and elections again by UN. Neutrality right now is to remove Hasina by force or by international pressure and then go for elections. The idea is only to get a new government led by BNP and Jamat.”

They added: “ISI has huge money and is a traditional investor in Bangladesh. They have large number of assets and sources ready to create ripples. They are misusing the poor condition of Chhatra Shivir students.”

The student movement is exceptionally strong in Bangladesh, with Dhaka University being the epicentre of several uprisings, including the 1971 liberation movement.“The role of China is also under the scanner but they have good business ties with Hasina. The clear signal is the attack on Hindus which is also being done to create anti-India sentiments. The next stage is beginning of terror activities if this is not controlled.”
