Despite the increasing deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran, hundreds of Afghan citizens continue to illegally cross the Nimroz border into Iran every day.
These individuals cite a lack of job opportunities, poverty, and destitution as the main reasons that compel them to undertake this perilous journey.
Abdul Salam, a 38-year-old resident of Badakhshan, bears the responsibility of supporting a family of seven. He has decided to travel to Iran illegally, through human smuggling, to cover the living expenses of his family.
The lack of work and poverty have compelled Abdul Salam to undertake this dangerous and illegal journey to Iran.
Abdul Salam said, “I am responsible for supporting a family of seven, and I have decided to go to Iran illegally to provide for my family. The lack of work and destitution have forced me to take this difficult and perilous illegal journey to Iran.”
Faridun, a resident of Baghlan, said in this regard: “Since there are no job opportunities for me in the country, I am forced to migrate to Iran or elsewhere. If I could find work in the country, I would never travel abroad.”
Mohammadullah, a resident of Farah, said: “I have been engaged for three years and haven’t been able to gather the money for the dowry. I am forced to travel to Iran. Although I have traveled many times before, the road is extremely difficult, filled with numerous challenges. On this path, there is killing, and there is also thirst and hunger.”
However, the governor of Nimroz urges these citizens to refrain from illegal travels to neighboring countries.
Mohammad Qassim Khalid, the governor of Nimroz, said: “I ask the citizens of the country to avoid illegal travels to neighboring countries. The government has made it easier to obtain passports, and every individual can get a passport and legally leave the country.”
According to reports, the arrest and deportation of illegal Afghan migrants in Iran have intensified, and every day, hundreds of families or other Afghan migrant who had gone to Iran to work and support their families are forcibly returned to Afghanistan.
