Dr. U S Goutam, Deputy Director General (Extension) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), lauded the exemplary work carried out by the scientists at KVK Malangpora, Pulwama, during his comprehensive tour on Sunday.


DDG was accompanied by Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Director ATARI-Ludhiana, Dr. Parvender Sheoran, and Director Extension SKUAST-K, Prof. D.M. Makhdoomi.
Dr. Goutam inspected various demonstration units, encompassing Horticulture, Field crops, Dairy unit, Medicinal plants, Fish pond, Poultry, and Duck unit.


The officials expressed high satisfaction with the teamwork and efforts demonstrated by KVK scientists in maintaining these units.
The visit extended to different laboratories, such as the soil testing lab, Food processing lab, and Honey bee testing laboratories, where Dr. Goutam expressed contentment with the analytical capabilities and processing activities carried out.


An interactive session in the KVK auditorium allowed Dr. Goutam to engage with staff members and progressive farmers.
During the session, he commended the quality of work at the grassroots level and offered valuable suggestions for further improvements in farmer-oriented extension activities.


Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai emphasised the roadmap for the university and KVK’s role in making farming a lucrative and profitable venture.
The farmers took this opportunity to apprise the Deputy Director General of their challenges, seeking assistance in overcoming hurdles.
Dr. Goutam pledged support to overcome various constraints faced by farmers, assuring his help and cooperation.
