Three days after the northern railways decided to halt the Baramulla-Banihal train at Ratnipora in Pulwama, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the additional train halt on Thursday.
In a tweet, PM Modi wrote, “Good news for deepening connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir,” referring to the addition of a railway halt by the Ministry of Railways in south Kashmir.
“Bringing culturally rich Kashmiri towns on the Railway network! Amid cheers and celebrations, the long-pending demand for the Ratnipora Halt between Awantipora and Kakapora has finally been fulfilled. This halt will make mobility easier in the region with accessible transportation,” the Railways Ministry said in a tweet.
On Tuesday, northern railways approved the opening of Ratnipora halt station for the convenience of the general public. All trains chugging between Baramulla and Banihal sections will halt for sometime at the station.
Chief Area Manager (CAM) Kashmir, Saqib Yousuf Yatoo (IRTS) told that halt at Ratnipora railway station was a vital demand of locals in the area.
“It is a proud movement for northern railways that PM Modi is praising our work. The railway in Kashmir has become a lifeline for people of the region and we tend to improve our connectivity with each passing day, he said.
