Four Baloch youth, who were allegedly subjected to enforced disappearances, were found dead in Awaran district of Balochistan on Monday.
According to reports, the bodies of four Baloch youth were found in Mashkay, a tehsil of Awaran. The bodies were transported to a local hospital for identification. The victims were identified as Kamran Alam, Mehraj Niaz, Momin Aslam, and the fourth body was initially identified as Saif Baloch. But later, Saif’s family members rectified that the 4th body was not of Saif. They further added that it was Hafeez Baloch’s body who they said was also forcibly disappeared by the security forces. These young men had reportedly been forcibly disappeared on February 28, 2025, along with five others, allegedly by Pakistani forces. The whereabouts of the remaining five individuals are still unknown.
The discovery of these bodies has intensified the growing fear and concerns among the Baloch circles, which have long been grappling with the issue of enforced disappearances. Human rights organizations and activists have repeatedly condemned these acts, calling for accountability and justice.
The issue of forced disappearances in Balochistan has been a long-standing and contentious one. Over the years, numerous Baloch activists, students, and political figures have been abducted, and their fates remain uncertain. The Pakistani authorities, on the other hand, have consistently denied involvement in such disappearances, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.
As tensions rise, local residents, activists, and international bodies continue to demand an end to the abuses, calling for the safe return of those still missing and the prosecution of those responsible for the deaths.
