Another case of enforced disappearance has emerged from Turbat, the main city of Balochistan’s Kech district.

According to reports, Shahjan, the eldest son of Barkat Ali and a resident of Sarikan, Turbat, was reportedly forcibly disappeared from his home by Pakistani forces in the early hours of Thursday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 AM, leaving his family distraught and demanding his immediate and safe recovery.

Shahjan, the primary breadwinner for his family, is described as a devoted son who has been supporting his household.A Baloch political activist told The Balochistan Post that Shahjan’s forcible disappearance has not only caused immense anguish to his family but also raised renewed concerns about the ongoing crisis of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

Local activists and human rights organizations have consistently highlighted the prevalence of enforced disappearances in the region, calling on authorities to uphold human rights and ensure accountability. Shahjan’s family has echoed these demands, urgently appealing for his release and emphasizing the devastating impact his absence has had on their livelihood.

This incident adds to the increasing number of enforced disappearances reported in Balochistan—a trend widely condemned by domestic and international human rights groups. Efforts are underway by local communities and advocacy groups to amplify the family’s plea and pressure authorities to ensure Shahjan’s safe recovery.
