The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is “monitoring” Pakistan after Hizbul Mujahideen chief and US-designated global terrorist Syed Salahuddin was spotted in Rawalpindi.

In a viral video, Syed Salahuddin was spotted leading the prayers of one of India’s most-wanted terrorists, Bashir Ahmad Peer, who was killed in Pakistan recently.

FATF president T Raja Kumar urged Pakistan to continue to address its remaining Action Plan items and said Islamabad is being “monitored”.

In the viral footage, Salahuddin can be heard making a pledge to destroy India and the crowd cheered for him.

The FATF is an inter-governmental body established to combat money laundering, terror financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system. It had removed Pakistan from the “grey list” after four years in October last year.

Pakistan was put on the grey list for its failure to check the risk of money laundering, leading to corruption and terror financing.

The presence of the world’s most-wanted terrorist on its soil clearly states that Pakistan provided FATF with wrong information about the 34 action plans given to it to strengthen its ability to counter terrorism.
