Members of the Chaman Protest Movement say that Pakistan is attempting to seize and occupy the land of Chaman.
In a gathering, members of this movement stated that imposing restrictions on passports and visas at the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing means losing Chaman’s land, and they will never allow the Pakistani government to carry out this action.
Azam Khan, a member of the Chaman Protest Movement, said: “They are trying to seize Chaman and establish military bases and centers here, but we will stop them with unity.”
Javid Afghan, another member of the Chaman Protest Movement, said: “Here, under the pretext of terrorism, the Pashtuns have been deprived of their rights, and the insecurity and terrorism have been created by them. From now on, we will hold them accountable for everything.”
Members of the Chaman Protest Movement also added that, with the support of nationalist parties, they are getting closer to removing these restrictions.
Gul Jan, another member of the movement, said: “We assure you that high-level talks have been held, and you will, as before, travel through the Spin Boldak-Chaman gate using your identification cards.”
Wazir Khan, also a member of the movement, said: “When it comes to elections, Chaman is considered part of Pakistan, or in other matters, they claim the same. But when it concerns livelihoods, people’s lives, or the transfer of food supplies, Chaman is no longer part of Pakistan. We will no longer accept this situation.”
Members of the Chaman Protest Movement are criticizing the repressive policies of the Pakistani government against Pashtuns. On October 11 of this year, a jirga organized by the Pashtun Protection Movement decided on unrestricted movement across both sides of the Durand Line.
