The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rescheduled elections in two constituencies of the Balochistan Assembly—PB-8 Sibi and PB-44 Quetta—due to security concerns, following a request from the Balochistan government.
On Tuesday, the ECP announced that the by-election for constituency PB-8 Sibi, originally scheduled for November 14, will now take place on November 17.
Additionally, elections for 16 polling stations in constituency PB-44 Quetta, initially set for November 21, have been moved to December 12.
The Election Commission said that the new dates have been set to ensure a safe electoral process.
In light of recent attacks and security challenges in Balochistan, local authorities stressed the importance of holding elections in stable conditions.
The Balochistan government, along with the Election Commission, is preparing strict security measures as the revised election dates approach.
