Balochistan continues to grapple with the distressing issue of enforced disappearances, a challenge that has persisted for over two decades. The plight of Baloch nationalists, activists, and human rights advocates, who consistently point to Pakistani intelligence agencies and security forces as responsible for abductions and extrajudicial killings, remains a deeply troubling concern. Despite substantial evidence provided by these groups, the Pakistani government maintains a denial of involvement in the enforced disappearances.

In this bi-weekly report, The Balochistan Post (TBP) documents the cases of enforced disappearances purportedly involving Pakistani forces in the second half of July 2024.

Unveiling the Reality

During this period, 18 individuals were reported to have been forcibly disappeared, 4 missing persons were released, and 5 dead bodies were found.

It is important to note that this report does not encompass the organizers and supporters illegally detained around the time of the Baloch Raaji Muchi (The Baloch National Gathering) in Gwadar and elsewhere. These detainees include women, children, elderly individuals, and men. While some have been released, hundreds remain missing. Estimates suggest that more than 500 individuals may have been abducted, though exact numbers are uncertain due to a partial blackout of mobile networks.
