Ilham Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Kabul, in a meeting with Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, the deputy foreign minister for political affairs, expressed his country’s interest in strengthening relations with Afghanistan’s caretaker government, the Foreign Ministry said.
According to Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mammadov stressed in the meeting that enhancing bilateral relations between Kabul and Baku is valuable for both nations, and Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate in economic development and the welfare of the Afghan people.
The deputy foreign minister for political affairs also stressed the importance of expanding political, economic, and social relations between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan during the meeting.
“The ambassador expressed that his country is interested in developing political engagement with Afghanistan and is ready to collaborate in areas of economic growth and comprehensive welfare. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations for both countries,” the foreign ministry’s deputy spokesperson said.
Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai extended his condolences regarding the recent crash of an Azerbaijani aircraft during the meeting.
“This meeting is very valuable for improving trade relations and expanding political ties. It also indicates that the Islamic Emirate’s relations with neighboring, regional, and global countries are expanding,” said Jannat Faheem Chakari, a political analyst.
Earlier this year, in the month of Hamal of the solar calendar, the Islamic Emirate announced the reopening of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Kabul.
