Applicants for electronic ID cards told TOLOnews that there are not enough distribution centers for electronic ID cards in Kabul and in the provinces and there is a need to increase the number of distribution centers.

They added that the lack of electronic ID card distribution centers has caused many challenges for applicants.

Abdul Basir, who came to Kabul for three days from Takhar to receive an electronic ID card, said: “The Asan Khedmat (public service) center must increase in provinces to solve people’s problems soon.”

At the same time, officials of the NSIA say that they are going to increase the number of electronic ID card distribution centers inside and outside the country shortly. 

Mohammad Halim Rafi, the spokesperson for the National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA), told TOLOnews: “The (NSIA) is trying to increase the number of electronic ID card centers, and in the past few months we have established about 11 centers in different provinces.”

According to the officials in the (NSIA), currently, 77 centers across the country are distributing electronic ID cards to citizens.
