The Afghanistan Chamber of Industry and Mines (ACIM) said that land will soon be distributed to the country’s industrialists.
Officials in this chamber added that the only way to achieve self-sufficiency in the country is to support domestic production and provide more facilities for industrialists.
Shirbaz Kaminzada, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Industry and Mines, said: “With the arrival of the Islamic Emirate, the distribution of lands was stopped. We then proposed to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Economic Commission, and the leadership of the Islamic Emirate that land be allocated to industrial parks. Recently, the law for the distribution of land to industrial parks was passed.”
Sakhi Ahmad Paiman, the first deputy of the Chamber of Industries and Mines, said: “The more support we provide to Afghanistan’s industry in terms of energy supply, land distribution, and regulation of similar imports, the more effective it will be for employment and Afghanistan’s economic growth.”
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce said that there are currently 16 industrial parks operating in various provinces of the country, and 26 more industrial parks are planned to be established in the future.
Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said: “A new request has been made to establish 26 industrial parks in the provinces so that we have our own industrial parks to strengthen the industry in each province.”
A number of economic analysts called the distribution of land to industrialists and the creation of new industrial parks in the country important for the development of domestic production and achieving self-sufficiency in the country.
“To increase efficiency, productivity, and production, serious attention must be paid to industrial parks, and — by any means possible — the distribution of land or the creation of facilities should be more supported,” said Shaker Yaqubi, an economic analyst.
Based on information from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Afghanistan has currently achieved self-sufficiency in 133 items across 45 production sectors.
