The Ministry of Industry and Commerce reports that in the first eight months of the current year, trade between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan amounted to $14 million.
According to Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, the spokesperson of the ministry, $6 million of this total was in exports to Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, in a meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Islamic Emirate’s Embassy in Bishkek, emphasized the importance of expanding commercial and economic relations with Afghanistan, enhancing transportation links, and jointly developing mineral reserves.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce added: “Afghanistan’s trade with Kyrgyzstan during the first eight months of 2024 was valued at $14 million, with $6 million in exports and $8 million in imports.”
The Embassy of the Islamic Emirate in Ashgabat also reported on a meeting between the Chargé d’Affaires of the Islamic Emirate’s Embassy and the Counselor of the Uzbek Embassy in Turkmenistan.
According to the press release, during this meeting, both parties discussed political, economic, and trade cooperation, transport relations, humanitarian aid, regional cooperation and interactions, and the implementation of regional and infrastructure projects.
Abdul Nasir Reshtia, an expert on economic affairs, said: “Kyrgyzstan is an ideal market for Afghanistan, especially for agricultural products and industrial goods. If we can establish connections through new ports or new routes, it would be beneficial.”
Based on information from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the majority of Afghanistan’s exports to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan consist of mineral water, carpets, non-alcoholic beverages, dried fruits, fruit juices, apricots, and sesame seeds.
