Ayeera Hassan Chisti of J&K UT bagged a Bronze medal in the 48kg event of the 8th Junior World Wushu Championship held in Indonesia from December 3 to 11.

Ayeera was shortlisted for the world championship during the selection trial held at KIC Centre Meerut. She was enrolled in NCOE Bhopal in 2021 on the basis of her achievements at the national and international levels. Recently, in Batumi International Wushu Championship held in Georgia in August, she secured a Gold medal.

Chisti lost to Egypt in the semi-final in a close fight. She has a number of medals at the national level championships.

Indian Junior Wushu team bagged 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals. It is the best-ever performance of the Junior Indian Wushu team in the world championships. Earlier in 2016, the Indian Wushu Junior team bagged 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal in the world championship in Bulgaria.

The team was sanctioned by the Sports Authority of India at the cost to the government. The SAI and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports congratulated the Indian Junior Wushu team for the best-ever performance in the world championships. The President of the Wushu Association of India Bhupender Singh Bajwa also congratulated the team for the “excellent performance”.

The office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K, Vijay Saraf (president) Ranjeet Kalra (vice president), and member of J&K Sports Council Bhavneet (general secretary) congratulated Ayeera Chisti for her “outstanding performance” in the world championship and wished her all the best for her future events.

The office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K thanked the Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT Manoj Sinha for the support and for declaring Wushu academy recently, which they said is a big boost to the Wushu sports in the union territory. 

Kuldeep Handoo, a Dronacharya awardee and national chief coach of India congratulated the Indian Junior Wushu team for the excellent performance in the 8th Junior World Wushu Championship in Indonesia, especially Ayeera Hassan Chisti for bringing laurels. He thanked Nuzhat Gul, Secretary JKSC, for the great support and speedy work for the Wushu academy in Jammu and Kashmir.
