A youth has reportedly been forcibly disappeared from Karachi, while four previously missing individuals from Quetta have returned home, according to sources and family members.

Local sources in Karachi’s Lyari area said that a young man identified as Darwesh, a resident of Kalri, was allegedly picked up during a pre-dawn raid on Friday. Witnesses claim that personnel from Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies stormed his home around 4 a.m. and took him to an undisclosed location.

Since the raid, Darwesh’s family has received no information regarding his whereabouts or legal status. His alleged disappearance adds to the growing list of such cases from Karachi’s Baloch neighbourhoods.

In a separate incident, Pakistani forces reportedly detained and disappeared Zaheer Baloch, son of Ramzan Baloch, from the Giben area of Kech district on Wednesday. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

Four Qambrani Family Members Return Home

Meanwhile, four members of the Qambrani family — Ali Asghar Qambrani, Bilal Qambrani, Zia-ul-Rehman, and Fazal-ul-Rehman — have reportedly returned home in Quetta after being missing for an unspecified period.

Their disappearance had previously sparked concern and protests by human rights activists and relatives. The news of their return was confirmed by Haseeba Qambrani Baloch in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In the same post, she reiterated her appeal for the safe recovery of her brother, Jawad Qambrani, who has been missing since 17 January 2025. Another family member, Nakia Qambrani Baloch, also used social media to call for the recovery of her father, Nasir Qambrani, who was allegedly disappeared on 17 March 2025.

Enforced disappearances remain one of the most pressing human rights issues in Balochistan. Activists and rights organisations say such incidents are increasing, leaving families in prolonged anguish and uncertainty.

Region-wide protests and sit-ins demanding justice and the safe recovery of the disappeared continue, with families calling for accountability and transparency from the state and security institutions.
