Charikar Municipality reported that compared to last year, the number of visitors to the Arghawan Hill recreational area in Golghundi has increased significantly.
According to officials, during the Eid holidays alone, more than 50,000 visitors from across the country visited the site in Parwan province.
Raz Mohammad Yaser, Mayor of Charikar, stated: “We have plans underway, and God willing, we aim to enhance the beauty of Golghundi in the coming years. We intend to plant decorative trees, establish sanitary facilities, install containers, and build children’s play equipment in the area.”
Visitors have called on the caretaker government to provide more basic facilities.
Ali Afzali, a resident of Kabul, said: “Unfortunately, we don’t see sanitation services, restrooms, or trash bins here. The lack of these facilities leads to environmental damage.”
Zaker Afzali, also from Kabul, said: “This beautiful natural area is truly valuable. We’ve come from very far just to enjoy this space.”
The large turnout has had a positive impact on local businesses. Traditional foods, especially kebabs, have seen a surge in popularity.
Homayoun, a street vendor, said: “The markets are vibrant. Everyone is eating here in the recreation area, and local business is booming.”
The rising number of visitors to Golghundi’s Arghawan Hill has not only become a hot topic among the public but has also generated considerable revenue for the area.
