The family of Zulfiqar Ali Marri, a resident of Kohlu who went missing from Quetta, has urged authorities and human rights organizations to intervene for his safe recovery.
Speaking to local journalists, the family stated that Zulfiqar was taken from his hostel on Jan Muhammad Road in Quetta by unidentified individuals in the early hours of February 19-20, around 4:30 AM. He has remained missing since.
According to his relatives, Zulfiqar had been in Quetta for a few days to appear for a test and interview at Khuzdar University. Concerned about the security situation in Balochistan, his family had previously ensured he studied in Punjab until his F.Sc. education. They described him as a brilliant student, noting that he secured 90% marks in matriculation, topping the entire Dera Ghazi Khan district. His school recognized his achievement by displaying posters and pictures of him at the school’s main gate and on the walls of Jampur Road, which remain visible to this day.
His family further explained that Zulfiqar had reluctantly traveled to Quetta to pursue his university admission, preparing for his entrance test scheduled for February 23. He had joined an academy and frequently visited a library for his studies. “How could such a talented student be involved in any unlawful activities? He had only been in Quetta for a few days and had spent most of his academic life in Punjab, where strict regulations limited phone use and movement in schools and colleges,” the family questioned, expressing their distress over his disappearance. They added that no information had been provided regarding his whereabouts, leaving them in extreme anguish.
