A teenager was shot dead, allegedly by a “Death Squad” in Kech district of Balochistan on Sunday.

According to reports, unidentified assailants on motorcycles shot and injured a 17-year-old youth, Meraj, son of Abdul Qadir, in the Tump area of Kech district. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

The incident occurred in the Shankan area of Gomazi in Kech district. A local source—who requested anonymity—confirmed the incident. The source stated that the assailants arrived on motorcycles at the bazaar, where the teenager was sitting in front of a shop with others. They reportedly took him aside, engaged in a brief conversation, and then opened fire on him at close range.

Local sources alleged that the assailants were the members of a state-backed militia, commonly known as “Death Squads.” Nationalist groups claim that these militias are involved in various criminal activities, including enforced disappearances and targeted killings, with full impunity from the Pakistani Army and intelligence agencies.
