Unidentified armed men carried out a hand grenade attack near a main camp of Pakistani forces in Mastung, Balochistan, while a separate bomb explosion destroyed a police checkpoint in Qila Abdullah on Saturday.
In Mastung, local sources reported that the grenade attack caused casualties, although the exact number remains unclear. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation following the attack.
Meanwhile, in Qila Abdullah, a remote-controlled bomb exploded at a police checkpoint, injuring one officer and completely destroying the structure. Officials said that the bomb had been planted in a drain near the checkpoint and detonated during the night.
“One of our personnel sustained minor injuries, and the checkpoint has been completely destroyed,” a police officer confirmed, adding that investigations are underway.
No group has claimed responsibility for either attack. Both regions have experienced an uptick in attacks targeting security forces in recent months, with Baloch armed groups often claiming responsibility for attacks in Baloch-majority areas, while attacks in Pashtun regions are frequently attributed to Taliban militants.
