Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) meeting, stated that Moscow wants to expand its relations with the current authorities of Afghanistan.
According to Russian media, he added, ” We cannot ignore the fact that the situation in the country is stabilizing. We are engaged in bilateral relations with Afghanistan’s current authorities, and these relations will further expand.”
In his view, Moscow cannot ignore the fact that the situation in Afghanistan is stabilizing.
“The situation in Afghanistan is complex, but we hope to establish strong relations there,” Putin said.
He also emphasized that the CSTO focuses not only on security issues but also on combating organized crime and drug trafficking.
The relations between Russia and Afghanistan entered a new phase after the Islamic Emirate regained power in 2021.
The Islamic Emirate has not yet been recognized by the international community, but some countries, including Russia, are striving to engage with it and expand their economic and political ties.
