Yue Xiaoyong, China’s special representative for Afghanistan has discussed Afghanistan and the upcoming Fifth Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s Neighboring States with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.
In a statement from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan considers multilateral international strategies crucial for maintaining Afghanistan’s stability and improving its economic and social conditions.
During the meeting, it was reiterated that Turkmenistan and China will continue their comprehensive support for the revival of Afghanistan’s economy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said: “The sides exchanged views on the preparations to the Fifth Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s Neighboring States to be held in Turkmenistan. The interlocutors reaffirmed that Turkmenistan and China will continue to provide all-round support for the economic restoration of Afghanistan, following the principles of friendship and good-neighborliness.”
The interim Afghan government has so far not commented on the visits of China’s special representative for Afghanistan’s neighboring countries.
The visit of Yue Xiaoyong, China’s special representative for Afghanistan, to Turkmenistan comes after he previously visited Pakistan and stressed the vital role of Afghanistan’s neighbors in ensuring peace and stability in the country.
“Before moving toward regional consensus, neighboring and regional countries should encourage the Islamic Emirate to engage in a national dialogue. A national consensus must be achieved to clarify the requirements of all parties. Only then can regional consensus yield positive results,” said Mohammad Omar Nuhzat, a political affairs expert.
“China, as the second global power after the US, is our neighbor and can use its political, economic, and military influence to ultimately establish lasting peace and stability in the region,” said Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.
Earlier, Yue Xiaoyong also stated that regional and neighboring countries have agreed to cooperate for achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan.
