The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology has announced a reduction in internet and domestic call rates.
Najibullah Bayat Haqqani, the acting head of the ministry, stated that starting from the new calendar year, the price of one gigabyte of internet will drop to 95 Afghanis, the cost of each minute of calls to domestic networks will decrease from 3.50 Afghanis to 1.30 Afghanis, and the cost per minute of calls to foreign networks will reduce from 4 Afghanis to 1.40 Afghanis.
The acting minister explained: “In 2021, the cost per minute of on-net voice calls was 3.50 Afghanis, but this has now been reduced to 1.30 Afghanis.”
Haqqani also mentioned that the ministry’s gross domestic revenue has reached 50.5 billion Afghanis this year.
During the announcement, the General Director of IT Infrastructure at the Ministry of Telecommunications stated that 13 various projects, valued at 250 million Afghanis, have been implemented across the country, including projects for security equipment, power and UPS systems, provincial equipment, and other essential projects.
Sayed Mansoor Rahimi, the General Director of IT Infrastructure, added: “The security equipment project was implemented at a cost of 80 million Afghanis, and the power and UPS equipment project at a cost of 10 million Afghanis.”
Previously, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology had announced that to expand internet services, 26 provinces have been connected to the fiber optic network.
