The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced that since the beginning of the year, it has transported around 40,000 Afghan migrants, who have returned from Iran and Pakistan, to their respective provinces free of charge.
Imamuddin Ahmadi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, added: “Since the start of this year, around 40,000 Afghan migrants have been transported.”
At the same time, a number of migrant families who have returned to the country have called on the Islamic Emirate to provide them with housing and basic facilities in their provinces.
Dad Mohammad, who returned to the country from Iran with his seven family members, is now being transported to his province by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. He told TOLOnews: “We came from the border to Herat, from there we were taken to Kabul, and from here we will be taken to Mazar-e-Sharif. They have also assisted us.”
Sheema, another returnee, said: “They are taking us to Mazar-e-Sharif. They should provide us with shelter and help us.”
Many migrants who return to the country are kept in the central migrant camp in Kabul. Officials at the camp have stated that all necessary health, food, and shelter facilities have been provided for the migrants here.
According to officials, 10 to 50 families are transported daily from this camp to their respective provinces.
Abolis, an official at the central migrant camp in Kabul, said: “We have health teams here that provide 24-hour services to the migrants. We also have both male and female doctors here. For migrants who want to travel to their provinces, we cover their transportation costs.”
According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, since the beginning of the migrant transport process, the ministry has transported 140,000 returnees to their provinces free of charge.
