The Union of Private Schools of Afghanistan said that nearly one and a half million students are enrolled in private schools across the country.
Azim Maydanwal, the head of the union, also reported that among these, two to three hundred thousand are female students.
The head of the Afghanistan Private Schools Union said: “We have one and a half million students in private schools, of which two to three hundred thousand are girls studying from grades one to six.”
At the same time, several students from private schools say they are receiving both theoretical and practical education, and all necessary facilities are provided to them.
Niyayesh, a student, said: “I have been studying at this school for three years. We have very experienced teachers who give us homework and seminars, and we are learning both theoretical and practical lessons.”
Shahidullah, another student, said: “We are learning physics, biology, and computer science practically, and in addition to practical lessons, we also receive theoretical education.”
Some teachers emphasize that alongside public schools, the private sector has also created good opportunities for students to receive education. They call on the government to provide more support to the private sector.
Biheshta Bahar Morzad, a teacher, said: “The private sector is a strong arm of the government, and private schools have provided better educational opportunities for students.”
Tasekeen, another teacher, said: “All the educational resources that a student needs have been made available in these schools to ensure that students receive a proper education.”
According to the Afghanistan Private Schools Union, there are currently 3,500 private primary, middle, and high schools across the country, serving students.
