Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, discussed Afghanistan with parliamentary leaders from various countries, including Tajikistan.

According to Iranian media reports, Qalibaf, during the inter-parliamentary meeting between Tajikistan and Russia, held separate talks focused on stability and security in Afghanistan and the region, as well as combating drug trafficking and arms smuggling.

Regarding this, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated: “One of the key issues is ensuring regional security. As neighboring countries of Afghanistan, we need coordination and exchange of information to establish stability and security, especially in the fight against drug and arms trafficking. These topics were among the key points of discussion in Tajikistan.”

However, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reiterated that it will not allow any group to use Afghan territory to threaten other countries.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews that Afghanistan’s interim government does not interfere in the internal affairs of other nations and will not permit any country to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal matters either.

Fitrat added: “The Islamic Emirate does not allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s territory against other countries. It does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country and does not permit other countries to interfere in Afghanistan’s matters either.”

Meanwhile, some political analysts said that increasing coordination and dialogue between the interim government and other nations could help alleviate certain concerns.

Mohammad Bilal Omar, an expert on international relations, told TOLOnews: “Any change that occurs in Afghanistan has both positive and negative impacts on neighboring and regional countries. If security is ensured in Afghanistan, we can use the country’s transit routes to connect other nations.”

Previously, the chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council stated that more dialogue with Afghanistan’s interim government is essential for maintaining peace and stability in Central Asia.
