Residents of various parts of Balochistan, including Duki, Zhob, and Harnai, have staged protests in support of the Chaman protest movement.
The protesters, who are members of nationalist parties, have stated that if their demands are not met, they will block the Balochistan-Karachi highway.
Asghar Khan Achakzai, a representative of nationalist parties in Balochistan, said: “We, the nationalist parties like the Awami Pashtunkhwa Party, Pashtunkhwa Liberation Movement, Pashtun Protection Movement, and others, will take united steps and rally the people to claim their rights.”
Mohammad Wali, a leader of the Chaman protest movement, said: “This time, we are marching with nationalist parties to demand our rights, but if it still yields no results, we will block the Punjab-Karachi and Balochistan-Karachi roads.”
Several other members of the Chaman protest movement have stated that the government intends to make visas and passports mandatory for residents of Spin Boldak and Chaman in the name of fighting terrorism, a demand they will not accept under any circumstances.
Sadiq Khan Achakzai, spokesperson for the Chaman protest movement, said: “Can terrorists not come through your corrupt open routes, that you are putting pressure on ordinary people in the name of fighting terrorism?”
So far, the Pakistani government has not commented on the demands of the residents of Chaman.
Due to the mandatory requirement of visas and passports at the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing, over 15,000 local workers on both sides of the Durand Line have lost their jobs, and medical patients are also facing serious challenges.
