A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft was seized by authorities in Malaysia over a lease dispute on Tuesday, a report said.

The aircraft, acquired on lease from Malaysia, was seized at Kuala Lumpur International Airport over non-payment of dues worth $4 million, ARY News reported. The plane was seized following a court order.

Notably, the same aircraft was seized by the airport authorities in 2021 over the same issue. Later, it was released following a diplomatic assurance from Pakistan on payment of dues, the report said.

The seized PIA plane was brought back to Pakistan on January 27, 2021 along with 173 passengers and crew members on board, the report said.
